Hebrides
The Hebrides consists of a large number of Islands in Scotland's west coast. The Inner Hebrides consist of Islay, Jura, Skye, Mull, Raasay, Staffa, Coll and The Small Islands of Canna, Rùm, Eigg and Muck.
The Outer Hebrides include Barra, Berneray, Harris, Lewis, North Uist, South Uist and St Kilda. There are a large number of smaller and unpopulated islands.
For a definitive guide to Scottish Islands we can recommend (as we have the book) The Scottish Islands: The Bestselling Guide to Every Scottish Island by Hamish Haswell-Smith. The book has been recently updated and is a real bargain.

Throughout the Hebrides you will often find remnants of traditional crofts and crofting. The crofts on the west coast of Lewis has been preserved and renovated as tourist accommodation for visitors to the island, you can also visit the exhibits about this crofting community.
