Scotland provides a lot of opportunities for individuals who love the outdoors - or for people who need to be close to Perth, Dundee or Glenrothes, yet want to live in a small village community. The countryside around Newburgh is outstanding, the picture below was taken less than 10 minutes walk from the house.
Abernethy in Perth and Kinross is surrounded by wonderful scenery and countryside yet close to the main Edinburgh - Glasgow - Perth and Inverness transport links to allow you to get to these towns and cities quickly and easily. If you also enjoy exploring the Scottish Highlands then Newburgh is just under an hour to get to the Highlands and is close enough to Braemar and the Cairngorm's that you can easily drive there and back in a day (we did).
Community and Highland Games
Close to Abernethy is the small town of Newburgh. The Newburgh Highland Games and other community based events demonstrate the strong community in this area. Newcomers are welcome to the community and people are very friendly.
Golf in Fife and Scotland
While Abernethy does not have a golf course you are close to many world class golf courses including St Andrews. The nearby area has dozens of excellent golf courses where you can play, Ladybank, Perth, Cupar, Falkland, Dundee, Arbroath, Glenrothes to mention a few places all have golf courses - so live in Abernethy and play golf all year.
Abernethy has excellent facilities for young and old, the local primary school is recognised as an excellent school and for secondary Schools we have Bell Baxter in Cupar as well as schools in Perth.
The village has a good range of shops, infact you do not need to travel out to the supermarkets in Cupar or Perth, you can easily find most of your family shopping within the town. In the next village there is a Co-op shop that has a wide range of fresh vegetables and fruit, a local butcher, fish vans from Arbroath and Anstruther for fresh fish twice a week, a chemist and craft and wool shop - to mention a few of the excellent shops in Newburgh. The town also has a very good health centre and dentist.
